M 5.4.2 Other Native Metals
Native Metals - Others
Copper, brass, and tin have all been reported from the moon
(see NASA's Handbook of Lunar Materials), but
continue to remain controversial. There is a strong possibility that
they are contamination products.
Natural or anthropogenic, they have so far only been found with trace
abundances in samples returned by Apollo. If they are natural, it is unknown
whether they are present in the crust and/or mantle--or limited to the
regolith.
