Requirements:
Gather estimates for the power requirements of Artemis facilities and vehicles and of non-Artemis customers.
Nature and quantity of power required (Volts, Watts, frequency and load reactance if AC).
Service timing, including allowable outages; demand cycle, especially as related to the lunar diurnal cycle; and, for mobile systems, mission length between recharging/refueling.
Mass/Volume limitations.
Acceptable price per Watt-hour.
Power systems research
Gather and disseminate information on various power systems and explore the feasibility of their use by Artemis.
Primary power generation systems: those that act as primary generators of power from external fuel sources, including solar, nuclear and thermonuclear, and chemical sources (engines/fuel cells) run from exploited or imported fuels (e.g. Earth supplied and lunar or asteroid mined).
Power storage and secondary generation systems: Systems that take energy from primary generation systems and store it for later use. These include batteries, flywheels, and fuel cells powered from recycled fuels.
Power transmission systems: these include cables, microwave, laser, and fuel pipeline.
Coordination with other sections.
Explore other aspects of electrical power systems and their interactions with other Artemis systems. Examples include the use of bio-generated methane from life-support systems to power fuel cells, and life-support usage of power system waste heat.
