Lunar Surface Bus

Lunar Surface Bus

This is a work in progress. It is a design for a bus that can carry 14 passengers (including the two drivers' seats) across the lunar surface.

The bus has an airlock large enough to accommodate two people in pressure suits. In the back it has room for a bathroom and galley equipment. Most of the bus's service equipment is stored under the passenger deck.

The primary pressure shell is 10 feet in diameter and 32 feet long. The wheels are six feet in diameter, with treads designed for use on the loose dust of the lunar surface. The bus features indepedendent all-wheel drive with front and rear steering.

You can download 3-dimensional models of the bus from this page. All of these files are very large downloads, 2 to 5 megabytes.

The 3D CAD models in this section require the eDrawings viewer from SolidWorks.

The HTML files contain the CAD models in XML format. The first time you view them, the web page will automatically offer to download and install the viewer.

The zip files contain only the CAD models. They require that you install the viewer separately.
